Embracing Change as a Freshman

Transitioning to college life can be both exhilarating and nerve-wracking, especially as I adapt to my new environment at the University of Southern Mississippi. In this post, I’ll share some insights from a typical Wednesday in my life.

Morning Routine: Finding My Pace

Wednesdays start off similarly to Mondays. I wake up, grab breakfast, and head to my classes. By now, I’ve developed a routine that helps me feel more grounded. I try to mix up my breakfast choices to keep things interesting—a smoothie one day, and eggs and toast the next.

Midday Work at WUSM

After classes, it's back to the Student Media Center for my shift at WUSM. Each session is a learning opportunity—today, I worked on promoting our upcoming podcast episodes on social media. The creative environment keeps me motivated, and collaborating with my coworkers is always fun. I love how the station creates a sense of community among students.

Connecting with Friends

After my shift ends, I usually meet up with friends for lunch at one of the local spots off-campus. This mid-week break is a great chance to unwind and catch up. We share stories about our classes, jobs, and weekend plans, which really helps strengthen our bonds.

Evening Reflections

By the time the evening rolls around, I usually have some homework to tackle. After finishing up assignments, I take time for self-care—maybe a walk around campus or diving into a good book. As a freshman, I'm learning to embrace the mix of emotions that come with this new chapter in life. There are challenges, but the excitement and opportunities are what make it all worthwhile. As I continue my journey at Southern Miss, I'm eager to welcome more experiences and embrace the changes that come my way. That’s the beauty of being a college student—every day is a new chance to grow.
